Chiral pyrroloisothiochroman and pyrrolo[d]thiepine were obtained efficiently in four steps from N-alkylated maleimides via, successively, sulfurization, regioselective reduction followed by pi -cationic cyclination of the N-acyliminium ion intermediates.
